My Tejas Feri friends are hurting today. I didn't know Starr, but from the way people talk about her, I wish I had. I want to give my condolences & good thoughts & prayers to all of you who were lucky enough to know her.

I think it's day 4 with no cigarettes. I think I am past what people call the "homicidal/suicidal" irritability stage and the depressed stage (which was yesterday) and sort of floating now, kind of emo. If you had told me a couple of weeks ago that quitting smoking was going to hit me this hard physiologically, I would not have believed you. But now - aches and pains, lightheaded, the whole lot. 

I wonder if people are going to get tired of reading this shit about quitting smoking, but the reason I am doing it is for my own sake, so you don't have to read it. I want it down so I can go back and look at it if I am tempted to smoke again, which at this point feels like something I really, really don't ever want to do. But I work with addicts, I know how that goes, so I want a reminder. Besides, it's my friggin' journal, right?

I had a dream last night about smoking, but it was very bizarre. I was in some sort of refugee camp hospital and I had cigarettes on me. I pulled one out and this little boy - or maybe a midget? - came up to me and said, "Let me have it! LET ME HAVE IT! I want one!" So I gave him one and lit it up for him. He ran around yelling "I'm SMOKING! I'm SMOKING!" He wasn't really smoking but when it burned down to the butt I took it away from him. There was some left, but I put it out without taking a drag. I said to nobody in particular "I don't smoke any more," and my dad (how he got there I don't know) said, "That's good, son. I'm really glad you quit."

I was going to put up my last two Sexy TV Babes I Could Have Sexing WIth In An Alternate Universe Yeah Right, but other people beat me to it. #2 was going to be Kari from Mythbusters, and #1 was going to be Nigella Lawson, but then I was watching TV last night (sleep gets weird these days) and saw CLAUDIA BLACK. I don't know how I had forgotten about Claudia Black. 

So I'm going to leave it at that, in other words, there are all sorts of sexy people on TV who I am involved with in multiple alternate universes, and today I'm going to let Claudia Black be #1 as she might, no doubt, demand to be. I remember seeing her on Xena: Warrior Princess and going "WHO IS THAT! " because I didn't know what Farscape was at the time.

Anyway, this is where I am at right now.

I'm lucky...it's the only vice I never picked up :)

for me it was the only vice that STUCK. I don't care much about pot any more and I never did cocaine or heavy drugs, and I'm not so much of a drinker at all, but cigarettes...wow.

No, Starr - a friend of some friends in Texas. I read a really touching tribute to her by one of my Feri friends on Facebook, and it linked to some pictures too. Somebody who was really special to a lot of people, and it just touched my heart.

I got the nicotine patches, and it helps, but wow.

I was such the late arrival to Farscape - was just getting into it and they cancelled it. They will be putting it out on DVD soon, which will let me catch up on it.

I appreciate the good thoughts a lot. It's really helping. I got through another day without smoking & even after I did things I usually smoke after - I didn't smoke. I'm starting to feel a good difference in my body.
